Ginger, Mint, Lemon Limeade

I’m a big fan of non alcoholic drink recipes that you can easily add booze to. This one in particular because it’s like a fresh pressed ginger shot watered down and sweetened. Still has that bite, but not so much that it knocks you off your feet! (which I actually really like)

Juice Layout

I bought this awesome juicer and I figured it was probably time to pull it out of the box it’s been sitting in for the last week and make a couple drink recipes. This one came to fruition because I saw a restaurant (can’t remember which one) on Instagram that posted a ginger mint lemonade. So I wanted to make just that. I’m pretty sure…actually 100% sure I used WAY too much ginger, but I still think it turned out great and it was a big hit at the Stage + Table mixer I made it for.

First I juiced the ginger… I used about two of those roots you saw in the picture. First I split them up so they were smaller and turned my juicer to level 5, or high.

Then I threw a bunch of mint in there, which I wish I hadn’t done. Instead I should’ve bruised it in a mortar and pestle, soaked the mint in a little lemon juice and water and strained before adding to the mixture. Or even adding it directly to the finished product would’ve probably worked out better. The mint flavor wasn’t really evident!

Then I used a hand juicer to squeeze the lemons (about 12), and realized shortly after that it wasn’t lemony enough. I didn’t have any more on hand so I squeezed 4 limes in there too, hence the limeade part.

Next I added the water bottle above and mixed. To sweetened, I simmered brown sugar in water to make a brown sugar simple syrup. I used about 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water. But sweeten to your liking!

I could’ve garnished with a beautiful mint leaf or a slice of lemon or lime…but like I said…I used everything because I was ill prepared. Don’t be like me.
