Guacamole – Homemade or Bust
I love guacamole. I love it on my burrito, on my nachos, and even on my steak. Every now and then I’ll go to a restaurant, even a Mexican one, and HATE the taste of their guacamole… It really is simple to make and doesn’t need much seasoning, all you need is fresh, ripe avocados, and a little kick. If you’re not in the mood for a play by play, scroll all the way down to find the easily printable recipe card!
First, break open some fresh avocados. Use as many as you need depending on how many people will be eating it. If you’re feeding one of those people that scoops an entire tablespoon full for one chip (my husband), plan accordingly.
After you’ve opened them up, cross hatch the inside. If there’s a little bit of brown, no biggie, just scoop that section out with your spoon and discard. Do this with all of the avocados you have.
Next, you’re gonna scoop your avocados out with your spoon and into whatever container you’re going to use for the guacamole. I used a tupperware container because I was going to be heading to a party shortly after!
Next you’re gonna chop up your red onion and toss that into the container full of avocado.
Toss in some cilantro and sniff the deliciousness. Or if you don’t like cilantro, leave it out! You can also chop up some jalapeños or hatch chillies and toss those in too, depends on your tolerance and love for spice!
Next, use your fork to mash it all up. A lot of people like to mash the avocados before they put in all of the ingredients, but I feel like this way gets more flavor out of all the components. Try it out and let me know what you think! Then….
You have Guacamole! Cover it and stick it in the fridge until it’s serving time! But most importantly…enjoy! Enjoy this guacamole with My Homemade Salsa as well, the two fit together perfectly
