So…winter. Growing up in SoCal means I never experienced a winter. Not a single time in my life. Sure, it got kinda cold – but the lowest I remember it getting was 32. Sure, freezing. But it was at 3 AM. Here, on the other hand – the lowest it got was -11, -22 with wind chill – and needless to say that 5 minute walk from the parking lot into work at 10:30 AM was not pleasant at all.
I will say that I absolutely love snow. It’s beautiful and it keeps the world bright, even when it’s gloomy. Just a hint of sun reflecting off of the snow and everything is just instantly better. Once that snow is gone, and the clouds are dark and gray and looming I kinda feel like they’ll never go away. That is something that’ll be pretty hard to get used to.
I’m definitely ready for Spring, and despite the snow flurries yesterday, on April 30th – yes, late April – we have had some pretty sunny, beautiful days. May 1st and the sun is shining, the air is warm, and the smell of Spring is in the air.
So I (barely) survived my first Winter. But Spring and Summer is where The Babbling Brooke will really shine. I have a bunch of new endeavors I’m embarking upon and I cannot wait to share! (Farming, Personal Chef’ing, Bagel’ing, and more…ing!)
