My Road to Recovery

September 8, 2016 by Brooke 2 Comments

Hi. My name is Brooke and I suffer from depression and anxiety that I deal with on a daily basis and this is the beginning of my road to recovery. I’ve hid my depression, I’ve hid my anxiety from many people – slapping a smile on my face and guzzling down too much alcohol to fight the anxious feelings that well up in my stomach.

I am no longer going to do that.

From here on out, I’m committed to sober living, and I’m going to promote a healthy lifestyle to deal with issues such as depression and anxiety.

The meals I’ll feature here and on my YouTube channel will be nutrient dense and promote positive neurotransmitters. Not only that, but I will dedicate myself to sober living because I know that alcohol affects me in a negative way. I no longer want to mask my feelings and alter my brain chemistry. I want to live a fulfilled life full of true happiness and joy.

This will also be a place where you can come and express your feelings to me personally because we all need help, or even just someone to talk to from time to time when we’re feeling low. Whenever you’re depressed or feeling low, it’s best to form a support circle of people around you who can help you become stronger and be there for you in your time of need, and you there for them in theirs.

We do not have to go through recovery alone, we do not have to go through this alone, and we can beat this and live happy, fulfilled lives. Part of this journey is overcoming fear, and truly loving ourselves.

How do you combat depression? Do you conquer it by working out? Do you struggle with overcoming fear even though you know it defeats success? Do you eat healthy superfoods to improve your mood? Tell me in the comment section below!
