Boars Head Vegetable Side Dishes
I love smoked. The smoky flavor of meat especially. For this side dish recipe post I utilized Boars Head SmokeMaster™ Black Forest Ham because a little smokey meat can add something exciting to any vegetable side dish.
My smoke house rules always include pre-smoked proteins. My reasoning for this is because well…it’s more convenient. Picking up a pack of Boar’s Head is a lot simpler than buying a smoker and smoking something myself. Not to mention Boar’s Head does a pretty good job at keeping things delicious and interesting.
You should definitely check out Boars Head’s campaign and enter for your chance to win…all you need to do is give them a rundown of your own smokehouse rules. Which as chefs, foodies, home cooks…we all have a set of rules that we live by, right?
In all three of these vegetable side dish recipes, you’ll enjoy a flavor rarely experienced in America with our SmokeMaster Beechwood Smoked™ Black Forest Ham. Crafted with the finest ingredients and exceptional care, this ham is naturally smoked with imported German beechwood. The result, a ham with a delicious, distinct flavor that is rich and smooth. And pairs perfectly with what I’ve got going on here…
First lets start off with a smokey and sweet grilled corn and vegetable salad. So simple to put together, and grilling the boars head meat before chopping really seems to bring out more of the smokey beechwood flavor.
After lightly grilling all of the ingredients and tossing your garlic in a hot oiled skilled for a couple of minutes before chopping, let your ingredients come down to room temp, and mix them all together. Season with salt and pepper and pop in the fridge to cool. Once cooled, you get a sweet, smokey combo of corn and smoked meat.
Now that we’ve covered a Boar’s Head Recipe on the grill, let’s head over to the stove. A simple sautéed green vegetable side dish that utilizes Boars Head Smoke and enlivens the dish with something unique and as always, delicious.
For this recipe, all you need to do is cook down your onions and garlic until translucent, toss in your greens, and mix in your chopped Boars Head Smokemaster Ham for a deliciously smokey result.
I sprinkled a little finely grated mozzarella on mine, but a shaved parmesan would also pair really well.
Lastly, we head over to the oven and to a sweet glazed side dish.
For this recipe, you’ll caramelize your carrots in honey before adding the smokey flavor of Boars head. This smoked ham really adds depth to this sweet and toasty dish. Sprinkle on some toasted sesame seeds and indulge!
